“ GJD Web Design

Affordable Quality”

What I actually do

Using some of the most popular web languages and libraries in use today, I can design and create a visually attractive website suited to your needs. For information on the cost of my services please get in touch via the contact page and I will happily give you a quote.

As I have mentioned a few times on this site, I am really sick of all the template sites that are appearing on the internet at the moment. A website should be 100% unique and as a result I never use templates, all of my sites are hand coded and one of a kind.

As a final note I work hard to ensure that all my websites are designed and developed so that they are compatible with all modern web browsers. This includes the troublesome older versions of Internet Explorer. My web design and development is always compliant with current web standards set by the W3C.

Playing with HTML 5 & CSS 3

As web design is constantly evolving, it is important to keep up with the latest trends and techniques. HTML 5 is currently being talked about everywhere as the next big thing in web design. Although HTML 5 is a big step forward with the ease to do certain tasks (Such as embeded videos), it is actually CSS 3 where most of the new features lie.

CSS 3 allows the web developer an alternative way to create web animations, background colour gradiants, and also allows more simple stylistic changes such as rounded corners and box shodows. Click the link above to see my ambitious tests of some the new features CSS 3 has to offer. This is best viewed in Safari and Google Chrome as some of the newer CSS 3 features are still experimental and haven't yet been incorporated into all browsers.

Why I love being a freelance web designer

I love freelance web design as every project is different. It is always nice to have variety in life and working across so many different sectors of business has to be one of the best parts of my job. When a new client comes along I really enjoy throwing myself into the project. I always start by producing you a report on the websites of your main competitors. This is a good way for me to learn more about the field of work you and your business are in, and it also a good way to get an idea of what will work and what won't work for your website. I am always happy to explain everything I do, and answer any questions you may have. I know that sometimes technical talk can be a bit intimidating (and annoying) so when I am working for you, I always try and explain everything I do in a way that makes sense.
